How does it work? The main causes of joint dysfunction are mechanical, chemical, and emotional. Mechanical causes can be due to micro-trauma or macro-trauma. Micro-trauma can also be called repetitive stress injury. An example of micro-trauma stress would be sitting at a desk and typing all day with poor posture which can cause problems such as carpal tunnel or neck, upper back, or low back pain. Macro trauma refers to pain due to trauma, such as a fall, a sporting injury, or a motor vehicle accident. Mechanically induced joint dysfunction can benefit immensely from chiropractic care. If the problem arose from cumulative micro-trauma stress, which is the majority of musculoskeletal problems that occur, it is essential to identify and modify the faulty ergonomics and muscle imbalances responsible for the injury. Another cause of joint dysfunction is due to the effects of chemical stress on the body which can result in muscle tension causing joint dysfunction. Poor diet, smoking, heavy drinking, diet products like diet soda, , plug in air freseners, and air polution all create chemical imbalances in the body. Some chiropractors limit their practice to traditional spinal manipulation only, which has certainly helped many people. Integrated/Fowler Chiropractic and Rehab Clinics take chiropractic care to a new level; neurological assessment allows a more precise analysis which in turn allows a more gentle treatment. Integrating this gentle precise chiropractic care with conservative orthopredic management and spinal stabilizing exercises provides fast relief and fewer re-injuries. |
