What Can I Expect During My First Visit to an Integrated/Fowler Chiropractic and Rehab clinic? Please arrive 20 minutes early for your first appointment so you can complete a full medical history questionnaire. You will then consult with Dr. Fowler. This consultation is your opportunity to express your health concerns and expectations, and to ask any questions you may have pertaining to the matter. It is also a time for Dr. Fowler to express his role in your health care and discuss your health prognosis. In our clinic all examinations are performed by Dr. Fowler personally and the procedures utilized are to determine first if there are any "Red Flags" warranting an immediate referral to a medical provider or if medical co-management is appropriate. If there are no contraindiactions to conservative care the next step is to determine what is causing your pain. This could be a joint, muscle, disc, organ or combination of the above. Almost always there are underlying issues that must be addressed if a correction is to be expected. These complicating factors can be postural, ergonomic, faulty movement patterns, muscle imbalances, emotional, chemical etc. One of main differences we offer in our clinic is the emphasis on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of your pain to prevent dependence on passive care. The other primary difference is the precise non-force technique that allows treatment even in acute cases with spasm and severe pain. Orthopedic problems (joint instability) are addressed with the appropirate support to complement chiropractic and soft tissue treatment. Dr. Fowler will make recommendations for you to follow at home to empower you to assist with your care and avoid re-injury. In some cases x-rays may be necessary to determine an exact diagnosis. X-rays can be done at the Roswell clinic. If you have better coverage for medical care, you can have x-rays taken elsewhere and brought in. Dr. Fowler will go over the results of the exam and x-rays with you. Then, depending on your situation, you will treated with a gentle chiropractic adjustment, soft tissue therapy, and recommendations for home care. Depending on your condition, a series of visits may be indicated. The best prognosis will be be indicated by response to treatment and within a few treatments, the amount of care needed to stabilize your condition will be more evident. |
